General usage tips

  • As you’re working, check out the right-click menu for the area you’re in (Catalog, Playlist, or Timeline). You may discover some cool tricks!
  • If you’re unsure what something is for—for example, a colored box or line in the Timeline—place your mouse pointer over it for a moment and text will appear giving you a hint about what it is or what it’s for.

Troubleshooting

The receiving PC can’t find a Webcast

There are a few things you can do:

  • Make sure that on the receiving PC you can successfully ping the webcast machine. You can use the "ping" command by opening the command prompt and typing, "ping hostname" or "ping IP address."
  • Try using the hostname of the PC in the run box instead of the IP address or vice versa.
  • If you are sending across a LAN, make sure that both computers have TCP/IP networking installed.

After Installing DirectX 8 MixMeister Won't Play

On some systems, installing DirectX 8 impacts MixMeister's sound card selection. To fix this, do the following:

  1. Click on the Tools menu in MixMeister and select Options….
  2. Make sure the Primary Output is set to a valid sound device (such as a sound card).
  3. Close MixMeister and restart it.

Playback stops and skips when mixing between songs

This problem is usually the result of MixMeister running out of CPU resources.  Make sure you have the recommended minimum system parameters:

Pentium 2 class machine or better

64 MB RAM

100 MB of free hard disk space

On slower computers, reliable playback depends on a variety of factors including amount of cache memory, and hard disk speed.

I paid for the upgrade but MixMeister says it's expired

Make sure you have entered your Registration Key in MixMeister.  See Registration Keys to learn how to do this.

Clicking, Popping, Static & Noise

On some systems, MixMeister may provide unacceptable audio performance. If you hear noise during playback, try changing MixMeister's audio playback options by following these steps:

  1. Click on the Tools menu in MixMeister and select Options….
  2. In the Primary Output box, select Use Wave Output.
